When are Tooth Extractions Necessary?
At Danos Dental, we do our best to keep your full set of teeth intact. We provide a variety of treatment and restorative solutions, such as composite fillings, root canals, and dental crowns, to restore a decayed, infected, or broken tooth. However, there are cases when the tooth is so severely damaged, diseased, or infected that it is beyond repair. In such instances, we may recommend tooth extractions to protect your healthy teeth and alleviate any pain or discomfort you are experiencing.
We also recommend tooth extractions for the following situations:
- The tooth is too severely broken or cracked
- You have impacted wisdom tooth
- Not enough room for an orthodontic procedure
- Crowded teeth are affecting your bite alignment
The goal of our dental practice is to maximize the preservation of your natural teeth. To prevent further problems with your smile and oral health, Dr. Danos will recommend tooth extractions.
What to Expect Before, During, and After Your Tooth Extraction
At Danos Dental, tooth extractions frequently take less than an hour. To numb the area where the extraction is happening, Dr. Danos will administer local anesthesia. If you are feeling anxious or worried, we can discuss our dental sedation options. Nitrous Oxide and oral sedation can help you feel at ease and comfortable before and during the extraction procedure.
At any time during the procedure, if you feel any pain or discomfort, tell Dr. Danos right away so he can provide additional anesthesia before continuing. The length of the procedure will determine how long it takes to recover. You may feel like yourself again after 48 to 72 hours, at which point you can resume your regular activities. The jawbone, on the other hand, usually takes several weeks to recover fully.
Gentle Tooth Extractions for A Healthier Smile
At Danos Dental, we understand that many patients avoid tooth extractions due to the pain and discomfort. That is why Dr. Danos works hard to ensure that every tooth removal procedure is as comfortable as possible. He will apply an adequate amount of local anesthetic and the best dental sedation for you so that you will feel at ease throughout the procedure.
